About The Sutton & District Community Association:
The purpose of the Sutton & District Community Association (SDCA) is to improve the quality, preservation and safety of Sutton and District by providing a central point of contact and communication for all local activities and groups, liaising with Council and other government entities, and generating funds through available grants or community activities.
The SDCA-type organisation informally started out around 1917-18 when plans and funding for the Village Hall were sought (via debentures). The village hall was officially opened in 1919 and was run by a long series of sub-committees of the SDCA until ownership of the Hall was (reluctantly) transferred to YVC in 2016, due to lack of volunteers to run the Hall’s affairs. The SDCA-type organisations also oversaw a wide range of community activities from 1919 until the present day.
